People act and work for their own interest and desire to achieve self-satisfaction and happiness. Egoism roots from envy, insecurity and greediness of oneself and therefore, roots from our very own self. Envy, insecurity, jealousy, and greediness arise when we feel that others are far better than us which eventually leads to competence. In short, and in reality, we don’t want to be surpassed by others. We compete with others unconsciously and if we think that we already have something better than that of our competitor, we feel satisfied and happy even though we have already hurt others consciously and unconsciously upon achieving that something.
Egotistical people fear of not attaining what they desire or want. They fear of losing something which could make them think that someone is better than them because of that lose and what they don’t have. They also fear that someone could surpass them.
